Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a mobile notary cost in New Jersey?

New Jersey law sets the per-signature notarial fee at $2.50, but mobile notaries charge a separate travel fee. Our zone-based travel pricing starts at $35 for local visits within 10 miles of Hillsborough and scales up by distance. Apostille services are flat-rate with travel included — see service cards above.

How is I-9 verification priced?

I-9 verification is a $35 base fee plus a travel zone fee based on distance from Hillsborough. For example, a Zone 1 (local) I-9 totals $70 ($35 base + $35 travel), and a Zone 2 (nearby) I-9 totals $90 ($35 base + $55 travel). Volume discounts are available for companies onboarding multiple employees.

Why is apostille pricing flat instead of zone-based?

Apostille service involves more than a quick stop — it requires document handling, DORES protocols in Trenton, and follow-up steps. We charge a flat rate per document that includes everything: travel anywhere in our 6-county service area, document review, processing, and return delivery. No surprise fees.

How does apostille pricing work for multiple documents?

All apostille prices are per document. If you have multiple documents in a single order, the first document is charged at the standard rate ($95 by mail/drop-off, or $145 with in-person pickup) and each additional document in the same order is $65. The $25 NJ DORES state fee applies to every document submitted. For example, three documents by mail would be: $95 + $65 + $65 + ($25 × 3) = $300 total.

What is an apostille and do I need one?

An apostille is a certificate that authenticates a document's notarization or signature for use in countries party to the 1961 Hague Convention. If you're sending documents abroad — for marriage, school, business, adoption, or immigration purposes — you likely need either an apostille (Hague countries) or embassy legalization (non-Hague countries). We handle the New Jersey apostille process through DORES in Trenton.

How long does an apostille take in New Jersey?

Standard processing through the NJ Division of Revenue and Enterprise Services typically takes 5–10 business days. We offer rush in-person submission for an additional $50 when timelines are tight.

Can a notary complete an I-9 form?

Yes — but it's important to understand that when completing Form I-9, a notary acts as an "Authorized Representative" of the employer, not as a notary. The notary seal is not used on the I-9. We follow the USCIS M-274 Handbook for Employers to ensure full compliance.

What ID do I need for a notarization?

You'll need a current, government-issued photo ID such as a driver's license, state ID, U.S. passport, or military ID. The name on the ID must match the name on the document. The ID must not be expired.

Can you come to a hospital or nursing home?

Yes. We regularly perform bedside notarizations at hospitals, nursing homes, and assisted living facilities throughout Central New Jersey. The signer must be alert, oriented, and able to communicate their understanding of the document. A $25 facility surcharge applies.

Do you offer same-day or emergency notary service?

Yes — same-day and after-hours appointments are available based on schedule, with a $35 rush surcharge. For urgent hospital or legal needs, call us directly at (908) 524-0989 rather than using the contact form for the fastest response.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept cash, all major credit and debit cards, Zelle, Venmo, and business checks. Payment is collected at the time of service.

Do you serve counties outside Somerset?

Yes. We regularly serve clients across Hunterdon, Middlesex, Mercer, Union, and Morris counties. Long-distance appointments to Hudson, Bergen, and Monmouth counties are available by quote.
